Welcome to our Home Sweeter Home webpage. The excitement builds as we launch our major club renovation project on April 1st. Phase 3 Begins | Closure - Men's & Women's Locker Rooms

We are excited to announce the launch of Phase 3 of our WAC – Wauwatosa "Home Sweeter Home" multi-million-dollar renovation project. As we march toward the finish line, this will be the most wide-ranging phase as major upgrades begin to take shape.

This phase includes a major remodel of the Locker Rooms (including all new showers, steam rooms and saunas), the Large Gym enclosure to set the stage for new BODYPUMP® classes happening this fall, and an expanded and updated Front Desk, Lobby and Lounge area.

As anticipated, this Phase includes closures in some areas of the club. We want to make sure that you are aware of these closures so you can plan your visits accordingly:

Beginning Monday, July 22, the Men's and Women's Locker Rooms will be closed for your safety as crews work to completely update the plumbing, utilities and top to bottom finishes of both locker rooms. Due to the age of the building and the scope of this phase of the project, we expect the locker room renovation will take 8-10 weeks.

During the locker room closure, you are welcome to use our newly expanded poolside locker rooms for changing and showers. The new men's restroom area will also be open, and women's restrooms will be available on the north side of the upper fitness floor. In addition, please find small lockers on the fitness floor for jackets and personal items.

The exercise equipment, classes and pools are fully operational, and towel service will continue to be available during the closure.

To make the most of your visit, consider these tips:

  • Store your valuables in the trunk of your car
  • Come dressed for your workout or activity
  • If your kids are participating in swim lessons, have them ready in swimwear
  • If convenient, opt for a shower at home

Lastly, don't forget that your membership includes access to our six other conveniently located Clubs. You will be welcomed by all, and we invite you to have some summer fun in the outdoor pools at our Greenfield, Brookfield and Menomonee Falls Clubs.

Partial Closure
 - Women's Locker Room

We are moving along in our Home Sweeter Home renovation project! To facilitate the installation of new locker room amenities, our Women's Locker Room will be partially closed.

The back locker section (lockers 200-279) and back showers in the Women's Locker Room will be unavailable beginning June 6.

Closure - Steam Rooms

As we move into Phase 2 of our Home Sweeter Home renovation project, our Steam Rooms will be shutdown as we begin an extensive equipment changeover. We anticipate reopening the Steam Rooms when the remodel of both Locker Rooms is complete with a target date later this Summer. We will share progress and firm dates as soon as they are confirmed.

The Steam Rooms will be unavailable beginning April 24.

Phase 2: May 1 - June 28

What's Happening?
  1. Poolside Locker/Changing Room Renovation
    6 new rooms complete with showers
  2. Massage Renovation
    4 new suites
    Massage will be temporarily relocated during construction
  3. New Men's Locker Room Restroom Rear Entrance off Fitness Floor
  4. Steam Room(s) Temporarily Shutdown to Facilitate Mechanical Changeover
  5. Partial Shutdown in Women's Locker Room – Back Locker Section and Showers Unavailable
  6. Convenient half lockers and benches located out in the club

Watch for Details and Alerts on timing of these events. Due to the scope of work in each of the phases, project sequencing is dependent on many factors that may happen quickly or need to be adjusted. We will work hard to keep you up to date and informed!


Phase 1: April 1-30

We will be working mostly behind the scenes during our project launch beginning April 1. You will experience no interruption other than the presence of our construction partner, Selzer-Ornst and some demolition occurring to pave the way for things to come.

What's Happening?
  1. Lower Level preparation and relocation of Mechanical Equipment from current Maintenance/Mechanical Room space in the club
  2. Preparation and relocation of Cycle Studio to new space adjacent to current Studio

While we have developed a detailed project timeline, construction projects of this size and scope can run into challenges and setbacks. Frequently Asked Questions

When do the renovations start?
The project will unfold over 3 Phases with Phase 1 starting April 1. See the Home Sweeter Home Kiosk in the club or visit www.thewac.com/homesweeterhome for a complete description of the project as well as detail on Phase 1 that begins April 1.

How long will the renovations take?
We expect completion in the month of September. Please check our monthly communication updates (in club and/or website) for project timeline and progress.

Will the club be closed?
We anticipate a brief closing in late Summer as the entire club will be re-carpeted and freshly painted.

Will the locker rooms be closed?
To facilitate the complete renovation and due to plumbing and mechanical system overlap, both locker rooms will be unavailable for a short period of time this summer. Prior to the closure, we will have completed a major expansion of the Poolside Locker/Changing area as well as the installation of day lockers in the club to allow for members coming dressed for a summertime workout. The exact timing will be communicated as soon as it is confirmed.

Will there be more/less lockers?
The new layout provides more lockers in both locker rooms.

Will there be towel service?
Yes.

Will the pool be closed?
At this time, the only shutdown planned is the annual maintenance/cleaning scheduled for the two weeks starting June 16.

Will any classes be cancelled or moved?
Every attempt will be made to continue Group Fitness, Advanced Training and Workshops as usual. Due to the poolside locker/changing area expansion, the May-June Group Swim Lessons will not be offered. *See the Swim Lesson schedule for options.

Are you getting any new/removing existing equipment?
Yes, we will be upgrading and replacing per our ongoing commitment to offering the best equipment and experience for our members.

Will there be Massage Therapy during construction?
Yes. During construction of the new Suites, Massage will temporarily relocate to a different space in the building. We will keep you updated with all the details as they are confirmed.

How/where can I get current information on the project? 
Visit the Kiosk outside Logan Bean's office, visit the website www.thewac.com/homesweeterhome, and watch for information tables/times that our WAC Team will be available for conversation.

Are you raising my rates?
Our last increase was 1/1/19. We review our rate structure annually and do not base it on any one project or renovation; rather, we take a global approach involving many factors. This means some years yes, and some years no. The overarching goal is to deliver the best experience and value proposition for our members.

The WAC Wauwatosa story continues as we prepare to reveal more of the architectural beauty of this historic location and enhance the vibrant spirit of our club. Starting this April, we will be embarking on a major project to improve our member experience as we modernize our interior spaces. This will unfold over 3 phases and include...

  • Complete locker room renovation featuring:
    - New upgraded steam rooms and saunas
    - All new shower and lavatory spaces
    - Functional vanity areas featuring beautiful finishes and lighted mirrors for the ladies 
    - Expanded entrances with convenient towel pick up/drop off
    - Improved flow and locker layout 

  • Expanded and fully remodeled poolside locker rooms with improved pool access

  • Convenient half lockers and benches located out in the club

  • Large Gym transformation to set the stage for BODYPUMP® classes that will be coming later this year

  • New Cycle Studio equipped with more bikes for more exhilarating rides 

  • Welcoming front desk and lobby redesign 

  • Spacious entry foyer with more places to gather

  • Inviting lounge area for members and guests...a Tosa trademark space

  • Additional and beautifully appointed Massage Suites

  • And, while not visible, we're taking this opportunity to make several behind the scenes improvements of mechanical, HVAC and laundry facilities

Please know that while we will do our best to minimize disruption, the scope of this project will include some interruptions. We will keep you informed every step of the way and promise it will be worth it.
