Pressure on teens and pre-teens to meet unrealistic body image standards is intense. Parents can relate to how idealized media images on TV and in magazines fed feelings of insecurity decades ago, but insecurities seem to be even more present and damaging now in the form of social media. Body shaming and bullying have great potential to create eating disorders and body loathing.
The WAC is proud to offer a kinder look at body image and healthy eating habits. WAC Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist Kim Flannery teams up with a young member who has suffered and recovered from an eating disorder to bring you a multi-generational healing opportunity. Both parents and their children will benefit from understanding the science, hearing others' experiences, and learning how to practice self-compassionate mindful approaches to healthy body image and attitudes toward food.
This 2 hour workshop is a great opportunity to share, learn, and create healthy bonds with your parent/child!
