Philosophy
Do things you’re bad at, if they bring you joy. Today’s society is led to believe that if you are not conventionally ‘good’ or talented at something (a hobby, an exercise, a craft) that you shouldn’t do it, that if you are not an expert or don’t know absolutely everything, you shouldn’t even bother. My goal in life is to break these stigmas and bring more joy into life by embracing the uncomfortability, and just doing. Life is too short to worry about what others think or perceive, and life is definitely too short to be concerned about mastering everything you want to do, and allowing that fear to stop you from even trying.
So, do the thing you’re terrible at, with a smile. Hit golf balls into the water. Sing off-key. Fall down on roller blades. Blacksmith a weird, rusty, twisty towel hook that you’ll never use. Climb the rock climbing walls meant for kids, even if you’ve been climbing for years. Faceplant on skis. Bring your two left feet to a square dance. Swim without kicking your legs. Just do the things that bring you joy.
