Specialty Massages

Enhance your massage experience with additional techniques and equipment.

Hot Stone Massage

The application of gently heated stones as part of a deeply relaxing and penetrating massage helps to unlock the body’s natural healing energies. The warmth from the stones penetrates deep into the muscles, promoting increased blood flow and relaxation, enhancing overall well-being by stimulating the body’s self-healing capabilities.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal Massage

Calm your body and your mind before your baby arrives with a prenatal massage. Massage during pregnancy is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches, and swelling.

Cupping Massage therapy

Cupping Massage

Cupping, or myofascial decompression, can loosen muscles and promote blood flow through tight tissue and muscles. It can also assist in treating pain and muscle spasms with the use of fixed or moving cups. After a session, one may experience “cup kisses” or a temporary bruised appearance on areas worked.

Thai massage on floor mat

Thai Massage

Performed on a comfortable mat, Thai massage uses rhythmic compression, stretching, rocking, and passive posturing of the body to promote deep relaxation. This massage can be enjoyed before a workout, fully clothed and without the use of oil. Its benefits include: stress reduction, pain relief, increased circulation, improved range of motion, and energetic vitalization.

Only available at Wauwatosa, Downtown, and Menomonee Falls.

Customized massage therapy

Individualized Specialty Massage

Each therapist has different areas of expertise and interest, so the available types of specialty massage will vary by therapist. This option gives the therapist the ability to utilize modalities learned through additional education to create a specialized treatment geared towards your needs and goals.

We offer a variety of massage therapies including Swedish relaxation, deep tissue, hot stone, prenatal, cupping, Thai massage, myofascial release, sports massage, trigger point therapy, and more. Availability may vary by therapist, so visit our Massage Therapists page for more information and call to confirm their schedules.

No, massage therapy is available to both members and non-members. WAC members enjoy exclusive member pricing.

If it’s your first visit or it’s been over a year since your last, you’ll be asked to complete a health intake form. Before the session begins, your therapist will review your goals, medical history, allergies, past injuries, and any questions you may have. Together, you’ll determine the focus areas and approach for your session.

Massage tables are heated to keep you cozy, and you may undress to the level you feel comfortable with. You’ll be covered with a sheet or blanket at all times, with only the area being worked on exposed.

You’re in control of your session. You can request specific pressure, adjust focus areas, ask questions at any time, or end the session for any reason. If you prefer a quiet experience, just let your therapist know.

You may undress to your comfort level. You’ll remain covered with a sheet or blanket, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered. If you usually wear a bra, removing it may allow for smoother back work, but your comfort always comes first.

Yes, certain health conditions may require caution or prevent you from receiving a massage, such as recent surgeries, blood clots, infections, or severe medical conditions. Please consult your doctor if you have any health concerns, and always inform your massage therapist of your medical history before your session.

Visit our Massage Therapists page to learn about each therapist’s specialties, experience, and approach. All WAC Massage Therapists are licensed by the State of Wisconsin and have completed at least 600 hours of training at an accredited massage school. Reviewing their profiles can help you find the best fit for your goals and preferences.

Absolutely. Share your preferences with your massage therapist at the start of your session. Your massage is tailored to your needs, and you’re encouraged to speak up at any time.

After a massage at the WAC, stay hydrated, move gently, and give your body time to relax. Some mild soreness is normal. If you notice unusual discomfort, contact your therapist.
